Monroe County Business Alliance Receives Generous Contribution from County of Monroe for Link 2.0 Plan

The Monroe County Business Alliance was presented with a check at the  April Koffee Klub event, Michael Bosanac, County of Monroe Administrator/Chief Financial Officer, presented the check for $250,000 on behalf of the Monroe County Board of Commissioners. The payment to the Monroe County Business Alliance will support efforts underway to create an updated economic development strategic plan for Monroe County.

The MCBA will be providing administrative leadership and coordination for the creation of a new strategic plan with action steps that will guide efforts to help support new investments and expansion of existing businesses in Monroe County. 

The new economic strategic plan is called Monroe County Link 2.0. This plan will maximize the potential and opportunities of market sectors of the local economy. OHM Advisors has been hired to provide professional expertise and consulting services along with additional professional services with specialization in real estate market research and analysis. OHM Advisors is familiar with the County of Monroe since their assistance was used in the creation of the original Monroe County Link Plan. Aaron Domini, Principal in Charge at OHM Advisors, stated, “OHM has been a trusted advisor to the Monroe County Business Alliance for the last several years.” 
The new Link 2.0 will also benefit from the services of Mannik and Smith Group who will assist OHM Advisors by leveraging their experience and knowledge in local current land use and infrastructure plans. 
The Monroe County Business Alliance has contracted with Florence Buchanan, owner of Customer Experience360, to assist with administrative support as she did for the original Monroe County Link. 

“We are excited to have these distinguished organizations assist with Monroe County Link 2.0. Tim Lake, CEO of Monroe County Business Alliance, stated, “It is an honor and privilege to have the support and work with the County of Monroe and these consultants and community leaders who made the initial Monroe County Link Plan such a success.” Monroe County Link 2.0 is a continued commitment to improving the quality of life of our citizens and strengthening the image and brand of the County. The Link Plan will position the County to grow and adapt in our ever-changing economy.”

TOURISM BUREAU LAUNCHES AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

Today is the first day of the newly created Tourism Ambassador Program being administered by the Monroe County Community College. Students will be taken to a varied of locations over the next several months to provide them with an attraction experience that will lead to greater knowledge about the "things to do" in Monroe County. This program resources our associates in the hospitality industry to learn and experience our attractions firsthand. Together they will explore attractions and collaborate with others who share a passion for our county.April's session starts at the National Battlefield site and continues next month meeting with Fishing Boat Charter Captains to learn more about the sport and how important it is to Monroe County's economy. The program will conclude in December with the newly appointed Ambassador's supporting a local event while spreading the word about the many great things happening in Monroe County.Participants attending all sessions will become a Gold Certified Ambassador while those attending six sessions will become Silver Certified Ambassadors and three sessions will become Bronze Certified Ambassadors. The Master Walleye Circuit comes to town this weekend. This national event will pit some of the best walleye fishermen and women against each other in this prize rich tournament. Want to get up close and personal, the Monroe Boat Club, in Bolles Harbor, is the official weight in station.Stop in around 3 or 4 on Friday and Saturday afternoon and you can watch as the teams bring in their haul. Grab a hot dog and cold drink at the concession stand while swapping some fish stories with the professionals.
